Benbo’s current productions are:
The world premiere of Ailliliú Fionnuala in Theatre Upstairs @ Lanigan’s Eden Quay, Dublin; Francisco, a 3-part radio music-theatre serial for Ocean FM, based on Spanish Armada survivor Francisco De Cuellar in Ireland, with music by Kila; and Jimmy Gralton’s Dancehall, a music-theatre-dance extravaganza recalling the only Irishman to be deported from his homeland as an undesirable alien - Leitrim’s Jimmy Gralton in 1933, for standing up to the power of the Catholic Church.
Benbo’s artistic policy, driven by co-directors Sorcha Fox and Donal O’Kelly, is to present challenging stories in an accessible performance-driven theatrical style using poetic amd music-backed text. Since 2006, Benbo Productions has had a unique company/venue Comrades-in-Arts relationship with The Glens Centre, Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim.
